FUNNY (?) TWITTER RECAP OF THE 3rd ROUND OF ENGLISH PREMIERLEAGUE

This time you're getting shopping in Leeds, MLS, gingers, denim jacket, god-hatred, Venky's, Ophelia, Irene, Usain Bolt, and even Freddie Mercury... And for those who don't know, he was brilliant at Anfield! No, he was not singing. Well, maybe later in the showers (luckily I wasn't there...). BTW, he obviously signed a contract with Gillette; no sign of famous moustache whatsoever... Probably due to aerodynamic reasons...

BUT, still, it was not 'Luis Mercury' who was in the spotlight in the 3rd round of EPL. And even the Citizens weren't - despite very impressive WHL performance. Oh, no! I don't 8 2 say it but it was the Red Devils who stole the show. Fergie's heroes DEMOLISHED - yes, young - lads of Arsenal... Oh, wait, ManU squad was even younger... Hm, what was that all about then? Difference in quality? Nah, it couldn't be since ARSEne is a scouting/tactical genius. I wonder... :D

Now it's time to explain (again), what this blog is all about. As I wrote the last two times: You won't find any detailed experts' analysis here. You won't find complete scoresheets either. But you'll find a good banter, juicy comments about the game, the clubs, the players, the refs, the goals... Maybe you'll find some useful info/opinion for a football chat in your favourite bar...

Namely, football is a global sport, so is English Premierleague. It is followed by a huge number of a-round-ball-loving enthusiasts, journos, players and managers themselves... I hear football is also more and more popular in the US of soccer... :)

And for all those reasons it's widely commented on Twitter. It is a very well known "fact" that tweeps possess a lot of football knowledge, common sense, cynicism, humour, love/hate relationships... And, yes, even different kinds of stupidity occur...

So, all the ingredients for the tasty soup of football opinion are there.

This is the "third edition". Here are some of the bits, which should shed some (different) light on the 3rd round of EPL. I thank all the tweeps for contributing...

And, please, again, pardon my English... I was born lazy (so blame my parents).

MY SERIE A FANTASY XI

Serie A starts in a couple of days. Well, on Saturday exactly. Sadly, Inter and Milan are still the main favourites for Scudetto. Hopefully Juventus can climb to at least 3rd spot ... But it'll be difficult. Lazio, Napoli, Roma, Udinese etc. are all very competitive sides.

Even more "battling" should be in the Serie A live fantasy football. I picked my team, hoping that it is good enough for at least couple of rounds since I'm a bit sluggish (regarding this kind of stuff).

Any comments? Surely they're all good ... :)

MY JUVELEON TEAM:

GK Samir Handanovic UDI (value 14.34)
Why? Well, firstly, he's a great goalkeeper, yes, here and there he makes a stupid mistake, but who doesn't (just to mention more expensive Neuer, De Gea). He's been in Serie A for a long time, he's good at adjusting his line of defence, excellent at penalty-kicks. Guaranteed starting XI. And he's Slovenian as I am. :)

DF Stephan Lichtsteiner JUV (6.02)
Why? One of the better deals Juve made this summer. Tireless (deserves Forrest Gump nickname), capable of producing quality crosses, hopefully he will "gel" even more with Milos Krasic on the right side. And he's experienced, too. Guaranteed starting XI. Not to mention he plays for my favourite lady.

DF Stefan Radu LAZ (4.39)
Why? Well, he's not excellent at anything, but above average at everything. Durability, positioning, discipline, tackling are his best qualities, speed can be also one of his strengths. And he's in a very decent squad. Almost certainly in starting XI.

DF Paolo Cannavaro NAP (3.81)
Why? He's not even near his brother, he can play really poorly, but has experience, he has showed that he can be brilliant, too. He plays in a team that will score more wins than losses. He's not among my favourite players, but I think he'll do good for my team.

MF Sebastian Giovinco PAR (13.13)
Why? He'll prove himself as a key-man in Parma, guarantees goals and assists. Maybe he'll never be any good for the big ones, but in smaller teams he excels. He may be compared to an ant (even if it is "atomica"), but tell me, which ant can take free-kicks like he does? Or dribble? I've always liked him, despite he's not in Juve-shirt anymore.

MF Arturo Vidal JUV (7.00)
Why? If Conte has even a bit of common sense, he won't put him on the left side (in favour of Marchisio that is). And in his natural position in the centre of the midfield, Vidal can be a miracle-worker. Yes, he's not proved in Serie A yet, but I put a lot of faith in him. He can tackle, he can pass, he can score. And wears Juve shirt. Obvious choice then.

MF Josip Ilicic PAL (7.14)
Why? I don't expect Palermo to be one of the top teams this year. Their defence looks really rubbish. But in an attacking department there are quite a few lads, who can penetrate any opposition. One of them is "Jojo", as we call Ilicic in Slovenia (yes, this is also one of the reasons he's in here). This year will be more difficult for him as everyone knows his stuff, but I'm sure he has a joker or two up his sleeve. He can score, he can pass, he can bring some points to my team. No doubt about that. I just hope he's done something about his work-rate.

MF Kevin-Prince Boateng MIL (8.05)
Why? Even at the start of the previous season I would certainly not consider him as a player who can add something to the squad. In the last months he's gained my appreciation. No, he's not as productive as Sneijder or someone of his league, but can help Milan to many victories with his passing, scoring and defending. And he can do "Jacko-imitation" brilliantly. Not that I'm a fan of the king of pop ... or prince Kevin, for that matter ...

FW Mirko Vucinic JUV (7.55)
Why? The season hasn't even started yet and he's already one of the Juventinos' favourite. Brilliant displays in friendlies showed his vast amount of skill. Passing is perfect, finishing also, he can deal with any defender IN THE WORLD (as Jeremy Clarkson would put it). What's not to like about him? Oh, yes, his head. Hopefully he stays motivated throughout the season.

FW Antonio Di Natale UDI (18.76)
Why? Pure and simple. He is a FREAKIN GOAL MACHINE! Even in the "Christ-years" (well he IS 33) his pace is still excellent, his instinct for the goal is as good as ever, his dribbling intimidating for the opponents. One of the "musts" in a fantasy team.

FW Bojan Krkic ROM (9.00)
Why? He may not be one of the Pep's favourite, but I'm pretty sure that he'll become one of the beloved ones in Rome. Shooting, speed, work-rate are his strengths. So he's practically a perfect man for producing goods in front or from the wing. Please, don't let me down. Except when Roma and Juve meet ...

FUNNY (?) TWITTER RECAP OF THE 2nd ROUND OF ENGLISH PREMIERLEAGUE

This time there are some "thoughts" about candles, beer, spells, despair, cavalry, disrespect, soldier, dad, superman, solar energy, Barbados, spanking, Libya ... and bad haircuts. In this department Arsenal is far superior to any club in the EPL. No doubt about that! Some of their players would easily get a role in a Star Trek episode. Without visiting make-up artists.

But firstly, let me explain what this blog is all about. As I wrote the last time: You won't find any detailed experts' analysis here. You won't find complete scoresheets either. But you'll find a good banter, juicy comments about the game, the clubs, the players, the refs, the goals ... Maybe you'll find some useful info/opinion for a football chat in your favourite bar ...

Namely, football is a global sport, so is English Premierleague. It is followed by a huge number of a-round-ball-loving enthusiasts, journos, players and managers themselves ... I hear football is also more and more popular in the US of soccer ... :)

And for all those reasons it's widely commented on Twitter. It is a very well known "fact" that tweeps possess a lot of football knowledge, common sense, cynicism, humour, love/hate relationships ... And, yes, even different kinds of stupidity occur ...

So, all the ingredients for the tasty soup of football opinion are there.

This is the "second edition". Here are some of the bits, which should shed some (different) light on the 2nd round of EPL. I thank all the tweeps for contributing ...

And, please, again, pardon my English ... I didn't have any lessons during the week ...

POGLED NA SP U20 V KOLUMBIJI - NEKATERA IMENA SI VELJA ZAPOMNITI

Yeah, right …

Nogometaši so zbrani v Kolumbiji. Skupaj je nastopalo 24 reprezentanc, znani pa so že pari osmine finala (naši sosedi Avstrijci in Hrvati so končali v predtekmovanju, nas, Madžarov in Italijanov ni bilo tam).
